Trio of Miller Starr Regalia Attorneys Earn LEED Professional Accreditation

Walnut Creek, Calif., (July 7, 2009) – Miller Starr Regalia announced today that attorneys Art Coon, Serena Patitucci Torvik and Liana Epperson have earned their Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) professional accreditation from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) thereby joining only a small number of other attorneys in the State of California. According to the Green Building Certification Institute’s (GBCI) LEED Professional Directory, which oversees the LEED professional accreditation program, there are fewer than 500 attorneys in the United States that are LEED accredited.

“Miller Starr Regalia is committed to keeping our clients on the cutting edge of all aspects of California real estate. Building sustainable projects will continue to play an expanding role in real estate development as our economy begins to recover.” said Eugene Miller, Chairman of Miller Starr Regalia. “We are proud to be one of the few firms in the state to have so many LEED accredited attorneys.”

The firm’s Sustainable Development Practice Group provides clients with expert counsel in all facets of green building, including renewable energy and clean water technologies, air quality, clean water laws, CEQA, and climate change. Miller Starr Regalia’s commitment and expertise in sustainable development goes beyond legal practice as it shares the responsibility with the local community as well. The firm itself is a certified Bay Area Green Business and recently, Art Coon was elected Vice Chairman of the newly formed Diablo East Bay Branch of the Northern California Chapter of USGBC, covering Contra Costa County and portions of Alameda County east of the Berkeley Hills.

LEED Accredited Professionals
LEED accredited professionals (APs) are a distinguished group of individuals who demonstrate a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles. The LEED professional accreditation program is administered by GBCI, which was established in 2008 to manage the professional credentialing programs based upon the USGBC’s LEED Rating Systems including the LEED Green Associate and LEED AP credentials.
