Miller Starr Regalia

As a shareholder in Miller Starr Regalia’s Litigation and Title Industry Groups, Tara Castro Narayanan helps clients resolve their title insurance, escrow and other real property disputes.

Tara has over 15 years of experience representing clients––from multi-million dollar companies to small businesses and individuals––in both state and federal courts.  Her areas of expertise include:

• The title industry, particularly title insurance coverage and escrow handling.
• Lender/mortgagee title and priority disputes.
• Real property litigation, including actions to quiet title regarding easements, encroachments, illegal subdivisions.
• Construction-related litigation, including construction defect prosecution and defense, and defense of mechanics lien and stop notice actions.
• Business and commercial litigation, including breach of contract disputes and business torts. 

She has represented title companies and insurers, escrow holders, lenders, contractors, and business owners.

Tara currently serves on the firm’s 5-person Executive Committee.  She is also chair of Miller Starr Regalia’s Diversity Committee and has served on the firm’s Mentoring Committee.

PUBLICATIONS

• Tara recently rewrote the chapter “Escrows,” Miller & Starr, California Real Estate, 3d Edition
• Tara is a contributing author of Miller Starr Regalia's blog regarding newsworthy and legal developments affecting the title and settlement industry, "The Title & Escrow File"
• Besides authoring the revised Escrow chapter in Miller & Starr, California Real Estate, she also co-authored an article entitled “To Do or Not to Do—Whose Instructions to Follow in Closing an Escrow.”
• Over the years, Tara has also published a variety of articles on subjects such as title insurance claims, damages setoff, guarantees, trademarks, and premises liability. 

SPEECHES & PRESENTATIONS

• Tara has served as speaker/panelist on escrow liability and developments in escrow law at the California Escrow Association’s 2011 Northern California Conference, the California Escrow Association 2011 Annual Conference, and has presented to individual escrow organizations throughout the state.
• Tara has also addressed diversity in the legal profession in forums that include the California State Bar Annual Meeting.
