Tara Castro Narayanan is a shareholder in Miller Starr Regalia’s Walnut Creek office. She has over 13 years of experience representing clients in both state and federal courts for a wide range of commercial litigation matters, with a particular focus on:
- The title industry, particularly escrow negligence and fraud, mortgage fraud, lender/mortgagee title and title insurance coverage disputes, and lender priority claims.
- Real property litigation, including actions to quiet title.
- Business and commercial litigation, including breach of contract disputes, fraud claims and premises liability.
- Construction litigation, including construction defect prosecution and defense, and defense of mechanic’s lien and stop notice actions.
She represents title insurers, escrow holders, lenders and contractors.

ARTICLES AND PRESENTATIONS
Tara recently rewrote the chapter on escrows in the Miller & Starr treatise, California Real Estate. She also speaks on escrow liability and developments in escrow laws in such forums as the California Escrow Association, and addresses diversity in the legal profession in forums that include the California State Bar Annual Meeting.
Tara has published a variety of articles on subjects such as title insurance claims, damages setoff, guarantees, trademarks, and premises liability. Besides rewriting the escrows chapter in Miller & Starr, Cal. Real Estate, she also co-authored a 2010 article entitled “To do or Not to Do—Whose Instructions to Follow in Closing an Escrow.”
EDUCATION
Tara received a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Berkeley, graduating Phi Beta Kappa and with honors.
ASSOCIATIONS
Tara is the Chair of the Programs Committee of the East Bay branch of Commercial Real Estate Women. She is a former Director of the Bar Association of San Francisco (BASF) Foundation Board and a former President of BASF’s Barrister’s Club. Within her firm, Tara formerly chaired the firm’s Diversity Committee and was a member of the firm’s Mentoring Committee. She currently serves on the firm’s 5-person Executive Committee.
