Miller Starr Regalia (MSR), a preeminent California real estate law firm for more than 50 years, announced today that James L. Swearingen is joining the firm's Walnut Creek headquarters as a litigation associate.
Prior to joining MSR, Swearingen was an associate in the Los Angeles office of Greenberg Glusker Fields Claman & Machtinger LLP where he was a commercial and corporate litigation associate with a focus on real estate, entertainment and employment.
“James' experience in handling all phases of litigation in federal and state courts in California for a broad range of commercial litigation matters makes him a great addition to our Litigation Department," said Ella K. Gower, Miller Starr Regalia's managing shareholder.
“The Litigation Department has seen steady growth over the past several years as we support the needs of our clients, and the addition of James is a continuation of our efforts to increase depth and breadth in the Department," said Anthony Leones, chair of Miller Starr Regalia's Litigation Department.
MSR's Litigation Department represents Fortune 500 companies, governmental agencies, developers, homebuilders, financial institutions, title insurers, property owners and managers, retailers, media companies, manufacturers, REITs and smaller companies in a variety of matters related to business, real property, commercial, environmental, construction and insurance-related disputes.
Swearingen received his B.A. from the University of Oregon and his J.D. from the University of California, Davis School of Law. He was a Judicial Extern in the Sonoma County Superior Court and currently does pro bono work representing a Vietnam War veteran seeking to obtain increased VA benefits.
