Miller Starr Regalia (MSR) a preeminent California real estate and land use law firm for 60 years, announced today that Joy Spezeski has joined the firm’s Transactional Department as a shareholder in the firm’s Walnut Creek headquarter office.
Spezeski joins MSR from Coblentz Patch Duffy & Bass, where she advised clients on commercial real estate transactions, including acquisition, disposition, financing, leasing, and development of retail, office, and mixed-use properties. Additionally, she prepares easements, licenses, and other agreements. She has worked on transactions touching a variety of industries, including hotel, retail, office, industrial, and multifamily properties. She counsels clients on real estate related aspects of complex business transactions, such as restructuring and public/private partnerships. She also represents high net worth clients in the analysis, acquisition, and operation of real estate.
She earned her J.D. magna cum laude from Boston University School of Law, where she served as a Rappaport Fellow in Law and Public Policy with Mass Housing, focusing on energy efficiency policies in affordable housing. She received a B.A. in sociology and a B.S. in regional development, summa cum laude from the University of Arizona. Prior to beginning her legal career, she was an urban planner, evaluating and processing development and land use applications, and an environmental consultant focusing on National Environmental Protection Act compliance. Prior to Coblenz, she was a real estate associate at Kirkland & Ellis in Chicago.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Joy to our team. Her strong background handling all aspects of real estate transactions and her track record of work in several key industries deepens our bench strength in these areas,” said Xavier Gutierrez, chair of Miller Starr Regalia’s Transactional Department.
“Joy’s experience in real property transactions will be incredibly valuable to our clients.” said Ella Gower, MSR’s managing shareholder.
MSR’s Transactional Department assists clients involved in all aspects of the commercial real estate industry, including many of the world’s largest technology companies.
