Miller Starr Regalia (MSR), a preeminent California real estate law firm for more than 50 years, announced that it has promoted three of its attorneys to shareholder. The attorneys are Katie Jones, Giselle Roohparvar and Brian Shaffer.

Jones, based in MSR’s Walnut Creek headquarters, has been senior counsel at the firm for the past year. She was an MSR summer associate before joining the firm in 2007 as an associate. Jones represents developers, property owners, and national and regional retailers in a variety of real estate transactions. Her practice focuses on negotiating and drafting retail, office and industrial leases, acquisitions and dispositions, and Covenants, Conditions and Restrictions (CC&R’s) as well as representing clients in a broad range of litigation matters, with a special emphasis on commercial lease disputes and eminent domain issues.

Shaffer, also based in Walnut Creek, joined MSR as an associate in 2008. His practice includes a broad range of litigation matters, including eminent domain, construction, banking litigation, quiet title actions, easement disputes, contract actions, and general corporate litigation. Shaffer represents Fortune 500 companies, financial institutions, developers, contractors, product manufacturers and property owners.

Roohparvar, based in the firm’s San Francisco office, joined MSR as an associate in 2013. She represents investment funds, financial institutions, government entities, corporations, and property owners in complex business, real estate, and environmental litigation matters. Roohparvar has successfully negotiated and counseled numerous cases to settlement. She also has experience resolving cases through the ADR process as well as trying them to verdict in both state and federal courts.

“Katie has become an integral part of our real estate transactional practice. Giselle and Brian have distinguished themselves as very effective litigators, whether negotiating cases to settlement or trying cases to verdict,” said Anthony M. Leones, Miller Starr Regalia managing shareholder. “In addition, all three have immersed themselves in the community, becoming active in local legal and real estate industry associations. We are very proud of Katie, Giselle and Brian and congratulate them on their elevation to shareholder.”
