Miller Starr Regalia (MSR), a preeminent California real estate law firm for more than 50 years, is pleased to announce that shareholder Hans Lapping was elected as a fellow in the American College of Real Estate Lawyers (ACREL). Lapping, whose practice focuses on retail, office, and industrial leasing and real property acquisitions and disposition, joins more than 1,000 lawyers in the prestigious college.

ACREL is the premier organization of U.S. real estate lawyers. Admission is by invitation only after a rigorous screening process. ACREL's distinguished, nationally-known lawyers have been elected to fellowship for their outstanding legal ability, experience and high standards of professional and ethical conduct in the practice of real estate law.

“It is an honor to be selected to join ACREL.  I look forward to collaborating with all of the College’s fellows to continue to uphold its mission of maintaining high standards and advancing the practice of real estate law,” Lapping said.

Lapping represents many institutional clients in leasing, buying, and selling virtually every type of real estate. From acquiring raw land for development projects to assisting some of the world’s largest technology companies with office, industrial and research and development leasing to representing national landlords and tenants in retail, office and industrial leases, his representations regularly include negotiating and drafting real estate related contracts, coordinating due diligence, and closing transactions. He currently serves as a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and previously served on the firm’s Compensation and Hiring Committees as well as the Co-Chair of the firm’s Transactional Department.

In addition to joining the ACREL as a fellow, Lapping is a member of the Contra Costa County Bar Association, CoreNet, and International Council of Shopping Centers.  He has held AV Preeminent rating from Martindale-Hubbell since 2011, was included in Super Lawyers Northern California each year since 2012, Best Lawyers – Real Estate Law in 2021 and 2022, and has been recognized among CoreNet Global’s “Top Rated Faculty” on numerous occasions.

Lapping received his J.D. from the University of Illinois College of Law, magna cum laude, and graduated summa cum laude from Bowdoin College, where he earned his BA.
